In this course, you will learn some fundamentals of couture sewing and basics of drafting a skirt pattern. You will get in depth knowledge about the advantages of using guipure lace, couture hand sewing techniques, working with multiple layers of fabric for shaping the skirt, which are crucial for creating a couture look and feel. You will learn how to use the couture sewing process for this skirt and how to manipulate the lace in order to have a seamless couture finish. This course also includes participation in a private facebook group learning environment where all your questions will be answered and the student can learn from each others' process.
For whom is this course?
This course is for everyone with an average level of sewing who want to learn and master all couture skills required for sewing a couture lace skirt.
The first week of the course will be spend drafting the pattern, in week 2 the students will work with their chosen fabrics/materials:
Rest of the course:
It depends on the size and length of your skirt pattern how much fabric you need to buy.
1-1.5 meter usually will do. Keep in mind that the lace needs large seam allowances, 10-15 cm for
'molding' the fabric.
What is guipure lace?
Guipure lace is a type of bobbin lace. It connects the motifs with bars or plaits rather than net or mesh.
